Core values are the fundamental beliefs upon which your business and its behavior are based. They are the guiding principles that your business uses to manage its internal affairs as well as its relationship with customers or clients. As we detailed in previous articles, if our organizational purpose defines our destination, our core values define how we behave on the trip.
As you may recall, our purpose at NextLevel Thinking has evolved to: Challenging Organizations to Discover Who They Are, Understand What Business They Are Actually In, and Confidentially Articulate Their Why.
So, with that as our ambitious destination for the next 25 years, how do we ensure our behavior—our day-to-day commitment to our clients—remains consistent? These three core values have stood the test of time and continue to define the NextLevel Thinking experience:
1. Giving the Client What They Need, Not Just What They Want
Seeing the needs of a client is our specialty. Our experience over the last quarter-century has confirmed that clients often come to us with symptoms, not solutions. Being able to look past the immediate request and help them understand what they need—the deeper strategic fix—is one of the keys to their, and our, sustained success. This often requires the healthy challenge inherent in our purpose.
2. We Listen Before We Lead
Before we can ever challenge or guide a client, we must achieve profound understanding. We listen to our client, study their marketplace, and, most importantly, talk to their customers. It’s only after this comprehensive communication takes place that we are fully equipped to lead them on a journey of discovery and growth. True leadership in our field is founded on deep, unbiased insight.
3. Everyone Needs What We Offer. They Just May Not Be Ready For It
The ideal client for our firm understands that real, sustained growth requires focused work and plenty of company soul-searching. Our purpose—discovering the Why—is universally valuable, but not every organization is currently equipped or willing to undertake that type of deep strategic initiative. We are confident in the power of our process and are willing to wait until the timing is right for both of us to achieve maximum impact.
These values ensure that as we propel ourselves and our clients through the next era of marketing, our approach remains grounded, strategic, and profoundly insightful.
